Recap of key ideas:
We-Think explores how the web is changing our world, creating a culture in which more people than ever can participate, share and collaborate, ideas and information.
For
Leadbeater, open-access knowledge-building communities on the web allow ideas
to be shared and tested more quickly.
Ultimately,
this leads to us becoming more creative and innovative as we are liberated from
the usual institutional constraints on how things are invented and changed by
scientists and academics.
Ideas
take life when they are shared. That is why the web is such a potent platform
for creativity and innovation.
It's also
at the heart of why the web should be good for:
- Democracy: by giving more
people a voice and the ability to organise themselves
- Equality: knowledge can be
set free to help people who need it but cannot pay
- Freedom: more people will
know what it is like to be creative
Problems:
How do we protect what is private?
Are we always safe sharing?
What if the content is rubbish?
How do we earn a living when everyone is freely
sharing their ideas?
A prezi I used last year which should be helpful:
